The association admits two types of members – Ordinary Members & Associate Members.
Membership criteria is as follows: -
Ordinary Members must : -
- Live inside the postal area of DG8.
- Fill in both sides of the membership application form.
Note - Junior applicants up to the age of 11 years old on the 1st March in the year of application, must have the parental declaration section of the form completed.
- Be proposed by two current members of the association.
- Be accepted at a meeting of the committee, whose decision in final.
- Have paid the subscription fee due for that season.
Applicants can download a membership form from the link below, or collect one from ‘Galloway Guns & Tackle’ shop at 36a Arthur Street, Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire, DG8 6DE.
Applications for membership are considered at committee meetings on the first Tuesday of each month. The Secretary will advise applicants of the results as soon as possible and invite them to go to the shop above to pay their fee and collect their permit.
The current annual fee for Ordinary Membership for Season 2006 is £105 for adults (aged 18 - 65 years) and £70 for OAP's (60+ & 65+ years / qualifying time is 5 years). Junior membership costs £12 (aged 5 - 11 years) and Juvenile membership costs £32 (aged 12 - 17 years).
Members of the association aged 16 years and over are automatically covered by insurance at no additional cost. The policy in force provides for Personal Liability cover to £100,000 and Public Liability cover to £5,000,000.
Associate Members must : -
- Live outside the postal area of DG8.
- Be 18 years old by the 1st March of the joining year.
- Fill in the associate membership application form, proving angling ability by providing details of their previous club/association and the Secretaries contact details.
- Provide two passport size photographs for identification.
- Pay the subscription fee due for that season.

Once completed, the form must be posted to the Secretary, complete with photographs, a cheque for the annual fee and a stamped addressed envelope. After consideration at the next committee meeting (first Tuesday of each month), the Secretary will advise applicants of the results as soon as possible and enclose their permit.
The current annual fee for Associate Membership for Season 2006 is £160.00.
