An excellent view above of Victoria Street which is home to virtually all of the shops, pubs and restaurants etc. in Newton Stewart as well as the local cinema pictured below.

Cinema

(above) The local cinema which was reopened a few ago years after extensive upgrading and refurbishment. The cinema proves very popular with town residents and visitors alike. A fantastic and enjoyable way to spend an evening.

Museum

(above) Newton Stewart museum, a great way to discover the history of the town and it's people.

McMillan Hall

(above) The McMillan Hall in days gone past held dances etc. and was the stage for some well known stars of the day. A lot of the older generation within Newton Stewart and the surrounding areas will have some happy memories of the hall. Nowadays, it is traditionally used more as a town hall and hosts meetings and jumble sales etc.

Cree Bridge

(above) Creebridge joins the main town of Newton Stewart to Minnigaff where a large population of the town live. Next to the bypass bridge, it is the only bridge allowing vehicles to cross the River Cree.

Minnigaff

(above) Coming across the Creebridge you enter Minnigaff and if you turn left, this takes you to Old Minnigaff as it is known locally.

War Memorial

(above) The War Memorial located outside the front of the McMillan Hall. It's inscription reads :-

TO THE GLORY OF GOD
AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF
THE MEN OF PENNINGHAME PARISH
WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES
FOR KING AND COUNTRY IN
THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918
